BRADENTON – Bradenton native Marcile Powers will be featured at an art show in Rome, Italy at Galleria L’Agostiana in the Piazza Del Popolo from April 16 – 29. Marcile will be showcasing a piece from her meditation mandala series titled Solar Cleanse. For this event, Powers’ art was also featured in Effetto Arte magazine.

Powers has also shown her Meditation Mandala at the Sarasota Federal Building, New York City and in the Village of the Arts in Bradenton. In 2013, Marcile was published in International Contemporary Artists Vol. 6.

Marcile says that until this trip, she had never been outside of the country, much less seen snow.

“When I think of mandalas, in the way I use them as an art form, I create from more of the Native American thought than the Buddhist four-fold path," said Powers. "That each circle is more of a journey and that I hope I can make it seem complex yet beautiful and somewhat rhythmic. I like to think that they are positive thoughts that I have hidden in geometry for others to translate in their own psyche."

Powers was born and raised in Bradenton, FL. She attended Booker High School’s Visual and Preforming Arts program in Sarasota. She graduated with a BFA in Film from UCF.

"I believe that art and storytelling can create catharsis for the audience," continued Powers. "In my artistic endeavors, emotional healing is always the most profound goal. I believe that it is the greatest achievement of art itself. Perhaps this is from my film and storytelling background. I hope that people will find a little inner tranquility when they look at my work.”

Powers is also planning on working on a documentary while in Rome.
