Manatee County Employee of the Month

BRADENTON -- Bernie Brooks, a Senior Building Trade Worker in the Property Management Division, is the Manatee County Employee of the Month. Brooks was recognized at the Manatee County Commission's public meeting on Tuesday in the BOCC chambers of the County Administration Building.

Property Management Director, Charlie Bishop asked Brooks and his team to come up to the podium, announcing them as "Bernie and the Jets," earning a chuckle from the audience and commissioners, which added a little swagger to the way they all strolled to the front of the chambers.

Bishop said, "Bernie loves music and there is a place he plays at night over on the beach." Bernie thanked the commission and then said, "I really have to thank my crew. There is no way someone could do this alone." 

The county also presented retirement awards to Kathy Peel, Captain-EMS, Public Safety Department, honoring her 25 years of service with Manatee County Government; and Michael (Mickey) Lutz, Public Works Maintenance Division Manager, Public Works Department, honoring his 39 years of service with Manatee County Government.
