BRADENTON – The Marauders (60-50, 25-16) were doubled up 4-2 by the Brevard County Manatees (56-48, 21-19) on Saturday night at McKechnie Field. The loss ended Bradenton’s three-game winning streak, but a loss by the Palm Beach Cardinals means the Marauders are still just a half game out of first place.

The Marauders opened the scoring against Brevard County ace Tyler Wagner (W, 11-4). Walker Gourley and Jose Osuna hit consecutive one-out singles, and one out later Eric Wood singled in Gourley for a 1-0 lead. Wagner pitched five innings and struck out four in the victory, which ties him with Chad Kuhl for the league lead. Osuna now has a 12-game hitting streak.

Victor Roache evened the score in the second inning with a solo home run off Jason Creasy (L, 6-7). Creasy pitched 6 2/3 innings, surrendering 10 hits and four runs. Joan Montero pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings.

Stephen Peterson (S, 3) set down the final 12 Marauders batters in a row to earn his third save. Gourley and Osuna each finished with two hits in defeat for the Marauders.

Game three of the series is Sunday at 5:00 p.m. Gates open at 4:00 p.m. Shane Carle will be on the mound for the Marauders, while the Manatees will turn to lefty Hobbs Johnson on the hill.
