Bradenton struck first against Jupiter ace Jose Urena. Benji Gonzalez led off the game with an infield single and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Gift Ngoepe. With two outs, Dan Gamache doubled home Gonzalez, then scored himself when Elias Diaz lined the next pitch to left field for a single. Urena pitched seven innings, striking out six without allowing another run.

Joely Rodriguez made the early offense stand up until the sixth. Yordy Cabrera reached on an error with one out in the sixth against Rodriguez. Sharif Othman followed by snapping Jupiter’s three-week long homerless stretch with a two-run bomb to tie the score 2-2. Rodriguez recovered to pitch seven innings and strike out a half dozen Hammerheads.

Gamache led off the ninth inning with a walk against Colby Suggs (L, 1-3). Gamache was in motion on the first pitch to Diaz, which Bradenton’s catcher lined into right to put men at the corners with no outs. Suggs retired Jose Osuna on a pop out behind the plate, then was lifted for James Nygren. Lewis hit a 2-1 pitch to shallow center, and Gamache narrowly beat a one-hop throw from Ryan Goetz for the deciding run.

Emmanuel De Leon (W, 3-2) pitched the eighth to earn the win. Matt Benedict got the final three outs for his fifth save.

The series finale is Wednesday night at 6:35 p.m. Zack Dodson will start for the Marauders against Scott Lyman for Jupiter. The game will be broadcast online atwww.BradentonMarauders.com.
