Movers and Shakers: Cathleen McCabe, MD, Selected for Committee Membership by The American Academy of Ophthalmology

BRADENTON – The Eye Associates is proud to congratulate Cathleen McCabe, MD, for her recent appointment to 2 committees by the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) Board of Trustees. Dr. McCabe will serve on the Practicing Ophthalmologists Curriculum Panel (POCP) - Cataract and Anterior Segment Panel as a subcommittee member; and as a member of the Eyenet Editorial Advisory Board. Committees are tasked with furthering the goals and objectives of the Academy, whose mission is to advance the lifelong learning and professional interests of ophthalmologists, ensuring that the public can obtain the best possible eye care. Committee members are chosen for their expertise and leadership capabilities, and are appointed to serve terms of 1 year.

Dr. McCabe’s achievements have earned numerous national awards. She received AAO’s Lifelong Education for the Ophthalmologist (LEO) Continuing Education Recognition and the Physician’s Recognition Award (PRA), presented by the American Medical Association. She has been named to the Premier Surgeon 250 (PS250) List, and was also chosen a LASERVISION Top 100 Surgeon.

A graduate of the Medical College of Wisconsin, she went on to an internship with Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She then completed her residency training at the world’s most prestigious ophthalmology program, the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami School of Medicine. She joined The Eye Associates as a partner in 2011, after re-locating from Fort Wayne, Indiana.

She has performed over 30,000 cataract surgeries and more than 17,000 LASIK procedures.
