BRADENTON -- Florida Republicans can get to the polls and vote for their choice for the GOP nominee in this year's presidential election. Polls are open until 7 p.m. Florida does not have an open primary, so only registered Republicans can participate. As a winner take all state, all of Florida's delegates will be awarded to the winner.
Though half of Florida's 99 delegates have been stripped this year as a penalty for moving their primary earlier, against party rules, it is still the most delegates awarded by any state thus far. Thus the result of today's primary should carry significant importance in the race.
