PALMETTO -- At Monday's Palmetto City Commission meeting, members approved an amendment to the employee retirement system and for the Police officer's retirement plan. In other business, members approved phase III for Sutton Park.

1.  CRA BOARD AGENDA APPROVAL

2.  DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. PARK MONTHLY UPDATE (Bob Gause) --  The project is now on a fast track. The $1.35 million estimate cost is running about 17 percent over budget, but there is still some fine tuning to do. We are in the process of waiting for SWFWMD's permit, we can't continue until we get it and lookng at June of 2014 to be the completion date. The dollars for the restrooms will be coming from the BP dollars awarded to Palmetto. $200,000. 

3.  SUTTON PARK RESTROOM FINAL APPROVAL

Action Request: Motion to approve the final construction plans for Sutton Park Phase III: Bathrooms, for the 2013/14 CRA budget. -- Approved, Unanimous

4.  UPDATE OF 5th STREET PROPERTY -- RFP is set and will get back in 90 days. .

5.  CRA DIRECTOR’S COMMENTS -- Budget has been delivered to advisory board.

Freeman-- A reminder for the 26th meeting CRA and advisory board.  Second week in October to start the two public hearing on the rate study. Commissioner meetting on the 20th then workshop on the 26th.

Williams -- Thanks to the chief for the great job he is doing. 

Davis -- Thanks chief for the great job, and thanks to the commission for recognition of his grandmother who passed away recently.  

10.  MAYOR’S REPORT -- EOC Hurricane preparedness meeting on Aug. 15,  7:30 p.m. at the public library. 

The Commission for the Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation (CFA) certification presentation for the Palmetto Police Department will be held Sept. 26, 2013 at the Hyatt in Sarasota. Congratulations Chief Wells and Staff.
