BRADENTON--The Pittsburgh Pirates will hold its second annual Baseball Basics for Women this Saturday, March 26th. The instructional clinic is intended for women 16 and over interested in learning or fine tuning the fundamentals of the game.
The baseball clinic runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at McKechnie Field. Instructors will include Pirates Major League players and coaches. Registration check-in begins at 6:00 p.m. Areas of instruction will include hitting, fielding, catching and base running. Participants will receive a free t-shirt, ticket to the next day's Spring Training game against the Tampa Bay Rays (1:05 p.m. start) and dinner following the clinic provided by Gecko's Grill & Pub.
Baseball Basics for Women will is open to the first 125 participants and is designed to be fun and allow participants to gain a better knowledge of the game. The clinic is for ladies of all ages, 16 and up, and of all skill and ability levels.
A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit PACE Center for Girls of Manatee County. PACE provides a non-residential delinquency prevention program in locations statewide, targeting the unique needs of females 12 to 18 who are identified as dependent, truant, runaway, delinquent, or in need of academic skills.
