HOLMES BEACH — Save Florida Home Rule, a nonpartisan citizens’ advocacy group, is hosting a rally on May 4 at 10:00 a.m. at City Field in Holmes Beach to arm the community with the facts regarding the state’s interest in consolidating or dissolving the Anna Maria Island cities.
The group believes that consolidation or take-over of Anna Maria, Holmes Beach, and Bradenton Beach will destroy the unique beauty of Anna Maria Island, which will ultimately lead to changes in zoning to permit high-rise buildings and will pave the way for the identity of other Florida cities to be hijacked.
Speakers include City Commissioners from Holmes Beach, residents from Anna Maria and Holmes Beach, and a strong home rule candidate for County Commission.
