Refugees Sue DeSantis over Martha's Vineyard Stunt

Posted
TALLAHASSEE – Refugees flown from Texas to Martha's Vineyard at the expense of Florida taxpayers last week have filed a class action lawsuit against Governor Ron DeSantis and other state officials.

In the complaint, attorneys for the migrants said they were told they would be taken to Boston and Washington, D.C. and that some were misled by pamphlets promising them assistance with employment and housing that was never delivered.

The migrants allege Florida officials are responsible for creating an "official-looking brochure" that included language from the Massachusetts Refugee Resettlement Program.

The plaintiffs claim that they "suffered economic, emotional, and constitutional harms," damages they value at a minimum of $75,000 while asking the federal court to block DeSantis from repeating his actions.
