School District Offers Interactive Menus

MANATEE COUNTY – The Manatee County School District’s Food and Nutrition Services Department has launched a new menu software app named “Nutrislice” that allows parents and students to view interactive online menus. This new menu platform will provide up-to-date menu and nutritional information to parents and students at home or on the go. The new software is available at the Google Playstore or Apple App Store and parents can download the software to their computers, tablets or smart phones.

The Florida Department of Agriculture purchased the Nutrislice program for all Florida schools to help assist parents and students make informed nutritional choices. It also informs parents and students of all the healthy choices offered in their cafeterias including fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, salads, wraps, whole grain items, 100% juice, and low-fat milk.

The app provides pictures, nutrition and allergen information along with carbohydrate content, calories and fat for each menu item. A flyer will be sent home to Manatee District elementary school students with download information for parents. Secondary level students can pick up a business card in their cafeteria. The monthly menus can also be viewed and printed by going to www.manateeschoolfood.net.
