Southern Gothic Horror to Premiere at Urbanite

SARASOTA — Too many have fallen victim to the freedoms promised by the red-eyed monster in the community along Odella Creek. Will cousins Suga, Big Man, and Pickle resist temptation or become the next names in the morning news?

OAK by Terry Guest is next up for Urbanite Theatre in downtown Sarasota. The Southern Gothic horror story opens Friday and runs through June 30.

Oak has been in development at Urbanite since receiving the organization’s 2020 Charles Rowan Beye New Play Commission. In 2021, Urbanite produced Guest's very well-received At The Wake of a Dead Drag Queen (review).

"After seeing the way Urbanite audiences embraced my play At The Wake of a Dead Drag Queen, I just KNOW that they are gonna fall in love with the characters and the world of OAK,” said the playwright.
