BRADENTON – Braden River High School's athletic department was selected for the Florida High School Sports Association's Fred E. Rozelle Sportsmanship Award. Each year, schools can be nominated and selected from each class and section in the FHSAA, based on various criteria related to exhibiting exemplary sportsmanship within athletic competition.

Sarasota's Riverview High was also selected for the award. The award is presented to one school from each of the four sections in all seven classification whose total sports program best exemplifies the qualities of sportsmanship by its coaches, players and spectators.

Criteria for selection of the winners includes programs and activities implemented within the school and community to promote sportsmanship; number and type of unsportsmanlike ejections; number and type of exceptional sportsmanship reports; and source of the nomination.

The schools will receive a $500 award and a commemorative plaque from FHSAA this fall.
