Posted

MANATEE COUNTY – A consortium of local groups has come together to sponsor a series of seminars to help Manatee students prepare for getting into college. Seating is limited for each seminar and registration is required.

The first seminar will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2013, and it will focus on “Getting Into College and Paying For It.” The seminar will run from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and it will be held at the Kiwanis Hall located at 1401 21st Ave. W., in Bradenton. Some of the topics to be covered in this seminar include the value of a college education; finding the right college; learning about the SAT, ACT and FAFSA; and setting a calendar to meet college deadlines.

The second seminar is scheduled for Tuesday, June 11, 2013, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. also at the Kiwanis Hall. The format for the second seminar is a “Test Prep Workshop.” Topics to be covered in this seminar include putting college tests in perspective; understanding the differences between the ACT and SAT; and scoring your best.

Sponsors for the series include Take Stock in Children Manatee, the Manatee Education Foundation, Kiwanis International, the Manatee Community Foundation, CollegeCounselling.com and SACAC.

In addition to the two above seminars, College Application Seminars will also be held during the month of August for seniors in high school.
