St. Lucie 5, Bradenton 2

The Marauders (41-39, 6-5) were swept in a three-game series against the St. Lucie Mets (47-32, 7-3), falling 5-2 in Monday night’s series finale at Tradition Field. Adam Frazier extended his hitting streak to 13 games for the Marauders in defeat.

Tyler Glasnow labored through 2 2/3 innings, striking out five but walking four. Gilbert Gomez homered on a 2-2 pitch from Glasnow to give the Mets a 1-0 lead in the third inning. Glasnow walked the next two batters before managing to strike out Aderlin Rodriguez in a lengthy at-bat before being lifted.

The Marauders bounced back in the top of the fourth, scoring their only two runs against John Lannan. Jose Osuna and Jordan Steranka connected for consecutive one out singles, and both scored with Eric Wood tripled to right to put the visitors on top 2-1. Kevin McGowan (W, 2-0) entered out of the pen and quelled the Bradenton rally with now further damage. McGowan completed the game to earn the win.

Thomas Harlan (L, 3-3) completed the bottom of the third, but was roughed up for three runs in the fourth inning. Eudy Pina’s two-run triple put the Mets back in front 3-2, and Pina scored himself on L.J. Mazzilli’s single. The Mets added an insurance run in the sixth for the final margin.

Jhondaniel Medina pitched two scoreless innings of relief for the Marauders in the seventh and eighth.

The Marauders return home to face the Fort Myers Miracle in a three-game series beginning Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Orlando Castro will be on the mound for the Marauders against B.J. Hermsen of the Miracle.
