Trump Found Guilty on all 34 counts in Hush Money Trial

Posted

NEW YORK — Former President of the United States and current Republican nominee Donald Trump has been found guilty on all 34 counts in his criminal hush money trial. Trump is the first former U.S. President to be convicted of felony crimes.

A Manhattan jury convicted Trump of falsifying business records related to payments made to Stormy Daniels related to hush money paid to the porn star to keep quiet regarding a 2006 sexual encounter between the two while Trump was married to their third wife, Melania.

At the time, Trump was married to Melania Trump, who had given birth to their son Barron four months before, and was the host of the reality TV series The Apprentice.

The story broke in 2018 when the Wall Street Journal reported that former Trump attorney Michael Cohen paid $130,000 to Daniels for her silence one month before launching his 2016 U.S. presidential campaign.

The crimes Trump has been found guilty of, falsifying business records in the first degree, are class E felonies in New York. Legal experts say that Trump, who is a first-time criminal offender, is unlikely to do jail time.

"This was a disgrace," said Trump outside of the courthouse after the verdict was read. "This was a rigged trial by a conflicted judge who is corrupt."

Trump called himself a "very innocent man" and said that the real trial would be on Election Day.

"Our country has gone to hell," he added. "We don't have the same country anymore; we're a divided mess. We're a nation in decline, serious decline."

I would have rather heard the prosecutor's response, versus Trump. You should add that to the story.

Slowly, but surely, the rule of law has begun to take place. Not interested in hype about him, will not click on any more giving him encouragement — let's move on to dealing with the real problems we face and getting rid of the corrupt conartists he has emboldened. They are next if folks do what they should at the ballot boxes.
