House of Hamill
Fogartyville
Friday - 7:00 p.m.
House of Hamill owes its existence - almost entirely - to a series of cancelled flights.
Rose Baldino and Brian Buchanan first found themselves onstage together at the 2014 Folk Alliance International conference in Kansas City.
Rose’s band Burning Bridget Cleary was scheduled to perform, but inclement weather prevented two of her bandmates from flying. Desperate to salvage the showcase, Rose approached Brian, who she knew fronted Canadian celtic rock band Enter the Haggis. She thrust a guitar into Brian’s hands, pulled him onstage, and the two just clicked.
Four years and hundreds of shows later, the duo was booked to play a closing slot at a Colorado festival, so they hired a bass player and drummer to fill out their sound. By the oddest of coincidences, their hired bandmates’ flights were canceled the day of the show. A frantic Facebook post introduced Brian and Rose to local musician Caroline Browning, who joined them on bass for the weekend. Once again, the chemistry was undeniable, and House of Hamill became a trio.
The band’s upcoming release, “Wildfire,” marks House of Hamill’s most compelling work to date. Featuring their strongest and most exciting songwriting, “Wildfire” is filled with lyrical depth, sophisticated vocal and instrumental arrangements, and hooks that are simply irresistible. This album captures the vibrant energy and creativity that have become the hallmarks of a House of Hamill live show.
Whether they’re ripping through a set of original jigs and reels, adding lush three-part harmonies into traditional folk ballads, or cracking up an audience with stories from the road, House of Hamill puts on a show that captivates audiences from the very first note.
House of Hamill | Friday, Jan. 31, 8 p.m. | Doors open at 7 p.m.

The Garbage-Men
Jiggs Landing Post
Saturday - 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
We are a band of five guys from Sarasota, FL who encourage recycling and giving back by playing music on instruments that we make ourselves from garbage and recycled materials.
The band started in March of 2010. After seeing Jack build his first guitar from a recycled cereal box and an old yardstick, Ollie had the idea to make a band that played music exclusively on instruments made from trash.
We now have five members and have made more than fifteen instruments that we play at our shows. We perform regularly across the country, on the streets, and at festivals and charity events. In addition to many Florida venues, the band has played at CNN, NYC Hall of Science, Times Square, Atlanta's Fox Theater for America's Got Talent, St. Petersburg's State Theatre, Tampa's MOSI, The National Guitar Museum Exhibit, and many others. We have been featured in The Blue Man Group Invent an Instrument, NPR's Science Friday, Time Magazine, Wired, and our PBS Gulf Coast Journal segment won an Emmy. We've been featured in a book called Garbology, written by Edward Humes, and even appear in a Chinese middle school English textbook!
The band recently recorded a CD of some of our originals and unique renditions of hit tunes. We donate proceeds from this CD and our other merchandise to both local and national charities. So far, we have raised over $6000. Cover $5.
The musicians are:
Ollie Gray: Drums
Jack Berry: Guitar
Harrison Paparatto: Sax, Trombone, and Violin
Evan Tucker: Bass

Virgil Cain
Freckled Fin Irish Pub
Saturday - 7:30 p.m. - 11:30 p.m.
A life-long passion for music has culminated into a tightly woven, professionally produced show by VIRGIL CAIN. A multi-talented musician, Virgil has drawn on over two decades of recording sessions and live performances to meticulously build a multi-layered show that appeals to most any audience.
It all started at the age of 5 with violin lessons in kindergarten. Age 13 came around and he discovered the electric guitar. Listening to guitarists such as Eddie Van Halen, Eric Johnson, Jimmy Page, Virgil found his way to playing guitar in original/cover bands in the 90’s. He began playing piano and keyboard parts on recorded songs too.
After one of the bands disbanded, Virgil played piano and acoustic guitar in local coffeehouses, singing stripped down versions of originals and original renditions of many songs. The solo show developed with influences from Billy Joel, Elton John and Coldplay on piano to Paul Simon, Dave Matthews and John Mayer on guitar.
With a passion for evolving a show, he discovered new technologies. Digital looping and sequencing created a full band sound from one musician. Songs would be built up live with acoustic and electric guitars, keyboards and electric violin parts built on top of each other. It's this "one man band" aspect of his performance that fascinates audiences whenever he plays and accounts for a good portion of what makes his show worth seeing. His stage presence, showmanship, appearance, and an easy ability to connect with an audience makes up another portion. But, it's Virgil’s talent as a musician, above all else, that garners the respect and admiration of an audience and rounds out the full package.
Virgil has performed his solo show for the last 20 years on the east coast in New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Connecticut, Virginia, Ohio, South Carolina, and Florida. This show allows him to focus solely on music to make a living and continues to expand every year. No cover.
