BRADENTON – There are some great shows lined up this weekend, including an Ozzy and Alice Halloween Tribute show! Check out the Bradenton Times Weekend Sounds to see what bands you can catch and where.
The Monsoons
Gilligan’s Island Bar
Friday: 6-10 p.m.
The Monsoons are a Sarasota-based party band blending the funkiness of New Orleans with good old rock n' roll. Drummer Pat McDonald spent nearly two decades touring with the world-famous Charlie Daniels Band. Lead guitarist and vocalist Steve Junot is a seasoned musician from New Orleans who toured internationally with a zydeco band, as well as having performed countless solo shows. Bassist and vocalist Chris Guertin boasts a career that has taken him to over 90 countries as the music director of cruise ships while also having performed as either band member or special guest bassist and vocalist in several locally favored bands. The three members form an experienced and professional trio, toss in their brand of charm and humor, and together the three create the perfect conditions for a good time. No cover.

Founded in 2001, Gilligan’s Island Bar prides itself on serving quality food, cocktails, and great service. The venue hosts live music on its front deck, and offers back patio seating, a tiki bar, and a fire pit for cooler nights. Kat Crosby and the Rhythm Gators
Mattison’s Riverwalk Grille
Friday: 7-10 p.m.
Sophisticated blues, a hint of jazz, and hot guitar define Kat Crosby and the Rhythm Gators. As lead singer and songwriter, Kat Crosby presents blues from a woman’s perspective. From songs that celebrate the man she loves to songs from a woman’s perspective of the world around her, Crosby's playlist is a combination of original music and storytelling and carefully chosen cover songs. An experienced and nationally recognized band that has played numerous festivals and other venues together for more than 20 years. No cover.
About the Venue:
Mattison's Riverwalk Grille is located along Bradenton's Riverwalk Park downtown. Mattison's and its staff pride themselves on their commitment to using sustainable practices and serving only foods that are hormone and antibiotic-free. They work with small family farms and source their produce and seafood locally. Kat Crosby and the Rhythm Gators
Dr. Dave Band
Stottlemyer's Smokehouse
Friday: 7-10 p.m.
The Dr. Dave Band is a high-energy country and classic rock band. They’ve received five Reader's Choice Awards–including 2021 Reader's Choice "Best Local Musical Group/Performer"– for their feel-good make ya’ smile performances. Band leader Dave plays guitar, electric fiddle, and banjo. Dr. Dave describes their music as "Kick-Grass Country Rock." No Cover.
About the Venue:
East of I-75 on Fruitville Road, Stottlemyer’s Smokehouse is an open-air barbecue restaurant set under an expansive outdoor tiki hut, including an old-Florida style Tiki-bar. Established by the Stottlemyer family, the family-friendly restaurant and live music venue serves brisket, ribs, pulled pork, sandwiches, and salads in a unique atmosphere. 19 East Road, Sarasota.



Ozzy and Alice Halloween
Big Top Brewing Company
Saturday: 7-11 p.m.
This Saturday, Big Top Brewing is throwing its annual Spooktacular Halloween Party featuring Steve Arvey as "Ozzy Arvey" joined by Siesta Key Iommi! The performance will be a tribute to Alice Cooper and Ozzy Osbourne. Dance to the tunes of "Feed my Frankenstein," "Welcome to My Nightmare," "Children of the Grave," and many moreÉ out by a blazing fire-pit. No cover.

Costume Contest from 7-9 pm, with the winner announced at 9 pm.

Al Fuller and the Moonlight Movers

Saturday: 6-9 p.m.
Al Fuller brings his special style to every performance. Smooth, fluid guitar playing with an easy sound, or hard-hitting blues that speak of nights in dark, smokey places. Fuller has been singing, playing, and composing music for most of his life. A veteran performer, Fuller has entertained troops in Vietnam, played in England, Spain, Canada, Mexico and all over the United States. Moonlight Movers is a trio founded by Fuller consisting of Rich MacDonald on percussion/drums, bassist Barry Sikes, and Fuller with lead vocals, guitar, and harmonica. The Moonlight Movers perform their interpretations and arrangements of great rock and roll covers and an assortment of blues tunes. No cover.

JR's Old Packinghouse Cafe is one of Sarasota’s favorite food and music venues. They have a longstanding reputation for consistent quality service, and support of live music. Known for their locally famous Cuban Sandwich, JR’s offers inside and outside dining, and a casual atmosphere. Sinewaves is a southwest Florida rock band comprised of four multi-instrumental musicians and friends. Their setlists include renditions of popular songs from multiple genres including rock, blues, funk, soul, country, and more. Through their personalized interpretations of yesterday's classics and today's hits, Sinewaves is on a mission to deliver renewed life to the songs they cover, and sweet sonic nostalgia to their audiences. Motorworks Brewing Company
Sunday: 3- 7 p.m.
Ship of Fools is a popular local Grateful Dead tribute band, formed in 2012 in Sarasota, Florida. The five-piece classic rock band also performs music by the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Jimmy Cliff, Van Morrisson, Chuck Berry, Bob Marley, Pink Floyd, The Band, Talking Heads, Warren Zevon, and more. Their fans appreciate their soaring leads, driving rhythm, and tight harmonies. Ship of Fools performs improvisational rock and blues, blending folk, bluegrass, and reggae, into a dynamic mixed sound, and performs at various venues and festivals locally. James Varnado & Johnny Barker Open Jam
Cottonmouth Southern Soul Kitchen
Sunday: 5-8 p.m.
Join James Varnado and Johnny Barker as they host Cottonmouth’s Sunday "Jazz and Blues Open Jam“. Born in New Orleans, James Varnado relocated to Florida’s Gulf Coast in 2006. The locally known and respected drummer has years of performances under his belt. Varnado has performed and toured with the likes of George Porter Jr (The Meters), Charmaine Neville (Neville Bros Family), Tab Benoit, Mem Shannon Blues Band, Jon Cleary, Dickey Betts (of the Allman Brothers), The Dixie Cups (Doo Wop), and has shared the stage with various local bands.
Johnny Barker and Sergae Glushenkov join Varnado for this eclectic rotating jazzy blues jam. Barker is a bassist and the founding member of "The JBP“, also known as The Johnny Barker Project. Sergae Glushenkov is a Ukrainian-born pianist who currently serves as band director at Southside Elementary school.
The trio offers audiences something a bit more like a variety show, leading the jam with opening songs, and welcoming a rotation of other talented local guest musicians to join the stage. A jam session guaranteed to bring sound surprises you won’t hear anywhere else. No cover.

Located in Bradenton Village of the Arts, Cottonmouth Southern Soul Kitchen has quickly become one of Bradenton, Florida’s more popular outdoor music venues. Music is hosted on their intimate 80-seat capacity patio garden, a perfect setting under the branches of towering live oaks in the heart of VOTA. Known for his eclectic southern dining, Chef Dave Shiplett puts his creative spin on southern classics serving up his brand of southern soul food in this 100-year-old cottage that doubles as an art gallery.
