Without an environment in which they would thrive, why increase the numbers of victims of corruption, mismanagement, and pollution? Unless societies contract to sustainable levels it does not make sense. This is no different than what happens to other animal populations that overpopulate and foul their environment — except that our technologies apparently have deferred the inevitable, to irreversable thresholds. Not so "schmart" in the long run. Unfortunately, many other animals will perish with us as a new epoch enfolds to replace our comparitively short lived one.
