WASHINGTON — On Tuesday, the Environmental Protection Agency announced it plans to repeal its landmark 2009 finding that greenhouse gases pose a public threat. The announcement comes in the wake of decades of evidence regarding the dangers of climate change.
The proposed EPA rule would rescind a 2009 declaration that determined that carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases endanger public health and welfare. The "endangerment finding" serves as the legal basis for a range of climate regulations under the Clean Air Act.
The repeal "will be the largest deregulatory action in the history of America," EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin said on Tuesday. "There are people who, in the name of climate change, are willing to bankrupt the country," Zeldin said on the Ruthless podcast. "They created this endangerment finding, and then they are able to put all these regulations on vehicles, on airplanes, on stationary sources, to basically regulate out of existence, in many cases, a lot of segments of our economy. And it cost Americans a lot of money."
Zeldin, a former member of Congress, was appointed EPA administrator by President Trump in his second term. He has disputed the scientific consensus on climate.
The proposal would need to go through a lengthy review process, including public comment, before it is finalized. Environmental groups are expected to challenge the rule change in court.

So sad that our country has been taken over by a mad man, and Republicans will do nothing to stop it.

Yes, and the moon is made of cheese, we aren't having the hottest summer on record, experiencing multiple flood episodes, glaciers melting, etc. The inmates have taken over the asylum.

History is filled with examples of poor stewardship.
History is also filled with examples of leaders who bankrupted their people.

It is unfortunate that this administration is eliminating sound policies not because there is a better alternative but because they have the need to destroy anything good done by other administrations. This administration does not care that the streets that suffered no consequences in the past after a heavy rainfall are now flooding. This administration is ignoring major fires, rising temperatures and sea levels, melting glaciers and eliminating all the progress made in alternative energy. This administration is bent on bringing us to the past without even looking at the scientific data stating that our planet is in trouble. They are a bunch of little boys who want things their way when they want them and others be damned. We are in serious trouble!
