Mary Lou Schmid

Posted

Mary Lou Schmid went home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on 25 March 2024 at the age of 84 years old. She was affectionately known as Aunt Mary “Beary” by all of her nieces and nephews. Her love of Winnie the Pooh was only surpassed by her love for her family, especially her nieces, nephews and all of the young children that she joyfully served as a teacher and guidance counselor. She received her Bachelors of Science Degree from the University of Dayton and her Masters Degree from Miami University. She loved teaching PE, coaching tennis and serving as Dean of Students and Guidance Counselor from Elementary level up through High School. She was a very talented athlete and was the first female student to be inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame at the University of Dayton for basketball, field hockey and volleyball. She is survived by her older brother John, her younger brother Jim and numerous nieces and nephews. We are grateful that she is no longer in pain or suffering and is home in heaven with her beloved friend Kathy Hysmith and her Mom and Dad, John and Mildred Schmid. Please join us for a celebration of her amazing life in Parrish Florida at 12270 County Rd 675. Her ceremony will start at 1200 on Saturday 20 July, followed immediately by food, games and great stories of her wonderful life.
