Leo Latulipe

Bradenton, FL - Leo Latulipe, age 92, passed away surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness on 9/20/2024. Born in Fort Covington, NY May 31,1932 Leo was the son of Joseph Alphonse and Marie Agnes Riveire Latulipe. He graduated from Fort Covington High School in 1951. On November 6, 1952, he entered the U.S. Army where he proudly served active duty on the front lines in the Korean War as a member of the 31st Infantry I Company. Leo was awarded the Korean Service medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, the Combat Infantry Badge, the United Nations Service medal, the National Defense Service medal and was honorably discharged on November 5, 1954.

On June 25, 1960, he was united in marriage to the former Jane Westcott at St. Joseph's church, Malone, NY with Rev James Lamitie officiating.

Leo was a millwright at Alcoa in Massena, NY retiring after 43.5 years in 1993. He also had a barber's license from Royal Barber School in Schenectady, NY.

Leo was active in the community as a communicant of St. Mary's church of Fort Covington and Our Lady Queen of Martyrs in Sarasota, the Alcoa 25 Year Club, the American Legion Post #1418 of Fort Covington, and the Loyal Order of Moose in Bradenton, FL. He also played a large role in the forming of North Franklin Sports in Fort Covington and served as a coach and manager of many youth hockey teams. In his free time Leo enjoyed skiing and was a member of Moon Valley Ski Patrol and the National Ski Patrol, playing baseball for many years on the Constable and Fort Covington teams and watching his favorite teams the New York Yankees, New York Giants, and Syracuse Orange basketball. Leo also enjoyed many summers on the Saint Lawrence River at their family camp. Upon retirement Leo and Jane spent the winters in Bradenton Fl moving permanently in 2005 where he was actively involved in the Trailer Estates retirement community. Leo was an incredible husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend. His strength, faith, humor, and convictions were an inspiration to all who knew him. He will be dearly missed by all; heaven gained an amazing angel.

Along with his wife Jane, he is survived by his four children and their families, Marcia Crawford-Fahl (Kevin Fahl), Garth (Denise) Latulipe, Glenn (Julie) Latulipe, Scott (Thomas) Latulipe; 11 grandchildren, Charlie Fahl Martinez, Ethan and Cameron Crawford, Ryan, Chad, Kyle, and Danielle Latulipe, Adam, Alexandria, Emily and Morgan Latulipe; 3 great grandchildren; one brother and three sisters-in-law, Frank and Barbara Latulipe, Eleanor Latulippe, Joyce Latulipe; five sisters and two brothers-in-law, Theresa Sweet, Cecille Miller, Carole Duncan, Lucie and Brian LaPlante, Anne and Gould Hunter; several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph Lucien Latulippe, Albert W. Latulipe, 3 brothers-in-law, Seward Sweet, John Miller, Jack Duncan and one sister Gabrielle Latulipe in infancy.
