Merle "Joyce" Carter, 74, of Bradenton, FL passed away on August 23, 2022.
She was born on July 31, 1948, in Georgetown, Guyana, to Clytie Auriel Gordon and George Arthur Lalljee. Joyce was the youngest of their six children. Her sisters and brothers are Ruth, Sheila (deceased), Ian (deceased), Peter, Patrick (deceased), Frank, Gloria, Hugh, Allan, Gerry, Vernon, Andrew, Alfred (deceased), and Cecil.
In 1969 she married John Wilbur Carter and migrated from Guyana to Brooklyn, New York. Joyce and John were the proud parents of Neil Carter (Barbara) and Denise Bafaty (Jermon) and grandparents of Caleb Carter, Emily Carter, and Jermon "Jay" Bafaty, Jr. Joyce was widowed on March 26, 1990.
Joyce was a woman of grace, courage, and independence. Her wisdom will forever guide the decisions of those closest to her through the rest of their lives. Visitation will Friday, September 2, 2022, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory, 26th Street Chapel, 5624 26th Street West Bradenton, FL 34207 with Services to be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, September 3, 2022, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Skyway Memorial Gardens in Palmetto, FL.
