Robert W. "Bob" Alles, 86, passed away on October 31, 2023, in Bradenton, FL. He was born June 5, 1937, in Barrington, NJ, to Howard and Amanda (nee Cleghorn) Alles.

Robert was also known by family and friends as "Bob", "Bobby" and "Coach". He spent most of his life in Blackwood, NJ, and he was well known in his hometown. He was a graduate of Haddonfield High School, class of 55'.

Bob loved the USA and served his country in the Army from training and communication school in Ft. Devens, MA. He served for two years with the ASA Okinawa Division in Japan. He was called for a second term during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

He also served as a Boy Scout leader in the Order of the Arrow. Bob was part of the Blackwood Kawanis Little League for more than 25 years as president, coach, and landscaper of the field. He loved kids and sports. Bob dedicated his life to Highland High School Sports from running the chains for football to attending wrestling matches and basketball games. In his 60s, he became a basketball referee and officiated games from Wildwood to North Jersey.

He was a dedicated postal employee for 32 years, before retiring in the early 90s.

He was also a member of the Bay Chorale Group in Bradenton, FL. He loved to sing with his fabulous voice.

From childhood, he was a Philly's fan and a season ticket holder for the Flyer's.

Bob is predeceased by his parents; sister-in-law, Nan and two nieces, Jane and Linda. He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Marilyn (nee Matthews); two stepsons, Matthew and Joe (Laurie); loving sister, Jane and brother, Gary; and three loved nieces, Debbie, Lora, and Cindy.

A Graveside Service will be 11:30 AM, Wednesday, November 8, 2023, with military honors. In Lieu of flowers, please consider donating in his memory to Blackwood Kiwanis Little League (bkll.com) or the First Presbyterian Church of Blackwood where he was a Deacon and a choir member (churchonthecorner.org). Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
