Posted
BRADENTON — The School Board of Manatee County has selected Dr. Laurie Breslin and Dr. Misty Mathis to advance as finalists in the search for the District’s next superintendent. The board selected and voted on the two finalists during the meeting today, August 12.

The next phase of the process will include formal interviews with the finalists.

As part of the selection process, the district will host a Community Meet & Greet with the finalists on Monday, August 18, at 6:15 p.m. at Manatee Technical College, 6305 State Road 70 E. The event will provide parents, staff, and community members the opportunity to meet the candidates, learn more about their backgrounds, and share input with the School Board.

I vote Laurie as Manatee school superintendent. She's put in the hard work with an exceptional, positive attitude and obvious passion. I know how dedicated and skilled she is in everything about educating all of our children in the public school systems. While she is more highly qualified than most candidates who would ever apply for any superintendent of schools, she also has a unique ability to be the great equalizer when consensus is needed to move forward and to be successful. Everyone under her leadership will feel engaged as part of the decision-making, because she is aware of each employee's strengths and values. I believe the choice of Dr. Breslin is essential for a smooth transition, as well.
