United Way Suncoast to Host Community Disaster Training

Posted

SARASOTA — United Way Suncoast, Rebuilding Together Greater Florida, All Faiths Food Bank, and Verizon will host two Community Disaster Training sessions on Thursday at R.L. Taylor Community Center in Sarasota.

Sessions will be held at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. The first 50 participants in each session will have the opportunity to assemble their own disaster preparedness kits, which will include flashlights, candles, emergency checklists, first-aid supplies, and a QR code for access to United Way Suncoast’s disaster preparedness hub.

The event is part of United Way Suncoast’s United We Prepare initiative, supported by a substantial grant from Verizon. For far too long, disaster response has followed a predictable pattern: devastation strikes, help arrives, headlines fade, and communities are left to rebuild alone – until the next storm hits and the cycle repeats. These organizations are coming together to break that cycle and focus on resiliency and preparedness.

Registration is required. The R.L. Taylor Community Center is located at 1845 34th St., Sarasota, FL 34234
