US strikes another boat accused of carrying drugs off coast of Venezuela, killing 6

Posted

WASHINGTON — The United States military struck another small boat accused of carrying drugs in the waters off Venezuela on Tuesday, killing six of the occupants, according to a social media post by President Donald Trump.

It marks the fifth deadly strike in the Caribbean since the administration implemented a policy of treating alleged drug traffickers as unlawful combatants that can be met with military force. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth ordered the strike. Both Trump and Hegseth shared video of the attack on social media.

Trump said the strike was conducted in international waters and "Intelligence" had confirmed the boat was trafficking narcotics, associated with "narcoterrorist networks" and was traveling on a known drug trafficking route.

Why not capture the boat, display the drug cargo, arrest the drug runners. If the boat isn't carrying drugs, no harm no foul. If it is carrying drugs we would have hard evidence of that fact to show the world, the drugs would be destroyed and the crew imprisoned. I wouldn't take Trumps statement that the sky is blue without corroborating proof.
