This is very interesting, I can't help but remember the article in the Bradenton Times about reallocating the $5,000,000 grant to install a sewage lift station in Terra Ceia. The reason give for not using the money for the lift station was that it would cost more than the grant. Yet, the County spent $9,500,000 to install a sewage lift station in Cortez. With surpluses averaging $200,000,000 a year you would think that they could have used the grant and thrown in a few bucks to eliminate an obvious health issue for the residents of Terra Ceia.

Positive comments about nuclear energy continue to ignore the elephant in the room--it creates nuclear wastes that we dont know how to dispose of. Just adds to more storage needs.

Preach it! This is a nonpartisan issue and needs to be of concern to every Manatee County citizen. Time to take back our county. We need to rethink more holistically and create a more sustainable future. Development of new areas will continue to exacerbate our current infrastructure and traffic issues. This is particularly important in light of our potential for hurricanes. God forbid we need to evacuate the entire county. Manatee county’s view of the future is about money and sports facilities not land base sustainability. Our water quality and ability to serve people now is impaired. Until we can plan appropriately with a long term vision verses the present short term vision we will suffer. Money does not have to win!

Sadly, racism still exists right here in Manatee County as funding was pulled from a sewer/water system in a black neighborhood. Also note how we no longer have a black representative on the county board.

Hmmm, so killing is "harvesting now? As if wildlife is simply a "renewal crop". Sadly, next it will be undesirable humans culled! Oh, that's already happening. The hunters are ICE.

In 1970 Alvin Toffler wrote the book future shock. Toffler recognized that the speed of change was accelerating. Today scientific breakthroughs and knowledge is accelerating so fast no single individual can keep pace with all the knowledge. I believe this is where AI will have it's greatest value for societies that learn to to use and control it. If we see that AI is a tool to solve problems, correlate vast amounts of data to help us move forward with healthcare and other scientific endeavors it will be a boon to man kind. Just like the industrial revolution eliminated some jobs it also created new ones and increased productivity. A prime example of where AI can be beneficial is in healthcare. There is so much new information about best practices and innovation that no one keep abreast of all the best options, but AI can. It can be used as a diagnostic and care planning tool for research and physician and patient decision making. The big if is will we control AI for the common benefit of man kind or will it be a tool for the elite to subjugate the masses.

So true! Where do most health issues develop and spread? Outside of our country. As Christians, we should care about all, not just ourselves.

I worked for Manatee County for many years. At one time when Hamm (previous owner) offered to sell the property, FISH pushed the county to buy the land, and they wanted the land for the maritime museum and dedicated as such in 2005. And there were floodplain issues regarding refurbishing the Seafood Shack and Annie's even back then. And the Coalition formed then were against it then. Hamm wanted too much money. The sale never happened. Some developers looked at the property and backed off when they saw the hoops they would have to jump through. Updating the Seafood Shack would be a potential problem, updating Annie's as well because of FEMA flood regulations. I had a file 3" thick of all permits and also the time FEMA cited the Seafood Shack as a violation back in 1990 and what they did to show compliance. I left it behind when I retired so I have no idea what happened to it.

Many citizens spoke about this at the Delegation meeting at the City of Bradenton Chambers. Not one of our elected officials responded in a positive matter in trying to correct the situation maybe because they all voted for it. They know exactly what they were doing probably followed by cashing that big Developer back check in their campaign Funds. The developers were double dipping to make sure they get what they want as they lost three candidates at the last round of elections and they’re getting ready to lose three more… for the record

It's time for change. The consistent for three vote for more development must stop and it will at the next election cycle. The county has no plans to keep up with current backlog of roads much less the maintenance of them. Just like workforce housing we're 20,000 units short and the current development can't keep up with the current demand much less the backlog I'm desperately needing housing for the working stiffs and not gated communities for the elite. You have some valid points and great ideas unfortunately they will never be implemented under the current commissioners administration and staff. For the Record
