As a citizen that believes in public service and good government, I am grateful for the Bradenton Times and the light they shine to expose what has become a corrupt County government and the greedy individuals that are pulling the strings so they continue to get wealthy at the expense of our environment and quality of life. The role of journalism and dogged reporting of facts can't be understated. Thank you!
This is the state of Manatee County and the results when they refuse to engage with the citizens who live here by cutting off public comments and questions. If citizens were allowed to comment and post questions to the website, someone in charge could have been able to clear up the confusion. Clearly, 311 is not the number to call since they sent valuable resources away from those in need and instead sent them to citizens who did not need assistance. This debacle is a direct result of those in charge starting at the commissioner level. No one cares and no one wants to engage. ONLY Kruse will interact with the public. Take Back Manatee County on August 20.
All things considered Heather Felton is clearly the best candidate. Voters would do well to stay far far away from SIMWINS candidates for any office!!!
Thank you for being such an informed, articulate advocate for responsible local government. VanOStenbridge, Turner and the Commissioner (other than Kruse) are prioritizing short term greed over the long term best interest of a healthy environment. The picture of the dead sea turtle is heartbreaking. Consider too, how many gopher tortoises have been crushed and buried by bulldozers.
...and there is the Boogeyman buzzword again. They can say the word "liberal," and everyone scatters.
Problem with that is, I'm starting to see conservatives figure out that they have been played. That buzzword is not going to last long, so they're milking it for all it's worth now, thus hastening the end of its usefulness.
I tried to help Kerri Wilson of the 59th street group as they were looking for advise. I sent her the letter from Brown as he had all of city Staff promote the 59th street project to get behind KVO. The group was not aware the City of Bradenton was supporting this widening of the road for what seemed to be a connection to the new development Aqua on the Bay. Letter is availble. This another example of KVO and Brown cooperation on projects that support overdevelopment.
Good. Not facing consequences for his actions would embolden him, and he's pretty much already a thug. People need to know who this guy is, and get him out of any position of authority, of any kind.
Tal Sidique will actually address issues in District 3 and will give the citizens a voice again, something we have been lacking since 2016. Culbreath did show up which is more than you can say for KVO and Satcher, but she is being sued by a Republican Executive Committee member and her record at the sheriff’s department speaks for itself with numerous letters of reprimand and hours suspended without pay. Farrington wants fair elections! No fair election with Satcher at the helm wasting 100K taxpayer money on unnecessary voter ID cards and not processing mail in ballots. Kruse has been the only Commissioner to interact with and on behalf of the public for the past 2 years.

Would not put it past Satcher to try and "find" some votes for himself and his cronies. As a Democrat - don't hold it against me - I am watching very closely to see if enough responsible Republicans can rid the county of these sad-sack, unethical characters that are destroying Manatee Co.
Out of all of the mailers I have received to date, Conerly has been the most prolific. To date, I have received 11 in the mail and one e-mail. I was not crazy about him because of his record on the Planning Commission but his very first mailer sealed it for me, sent before Biden dropped out of the race. It claims "the ONE Conservative that can give Sleepy Joe Biden nightmares." I don't think a single state representative even comes up on the radar of the President. State and local candidates should be more concerned with issues that affect the citizens of the state and county as they have no real impact on federal issues.
