Claude Henry Young, III, died peacefully in his home on June 5, 2024, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.
Claude was born on November 5, 1940, at a farm in Shelbyville TN. The eldest of three boys, William Dixon (predeceased) and Monty Kent by Claude Henry Young and Sue Jackson Young (predeceased). During high school, his family moved to Sarasota Florida for better opportunities, and he graduated from Sarasota High School in 1958.
He later married Cynthia Quinn Young, and they spent most of their time in Florida but summered in Tennessee.
Claude was a wise real estate investor and was successful throughout his career. Claude maintained his passion for farming throughout his entire life. "Sonny" Days Cattle Farm was resurrected on Moccasin Wallow Rd. in Parrish and became his retirement passion. Claude was an avid tennis player in retirement and was a former softball and basketball player. Claude had a vast knowledge of everything sports related with almost a photographic memory of player statistics and scores. He maintained a love for SEC football throughout his life with a special loyalty for the Vanderbilt Commodores and the Florida State Seminoles.
He loved his family and is survived by his wife, Cynthia Quinn Young, of Bradenton; his five children, Claude Stuart Young of Boston, William Stephen Young (Deanna) of Euless TX, Stephanie Shofner Klumpp (Michael Biff) of Fairhope AL, by then wife, Janice Birdsong Rowe, Ryan Matthew Young (Shannon) of Bradenton, Elizabeth Iva Young (Alex); also 9 grandchildren: Murphy (Katie Caroline), Lydia (Daniel), Morgan, Madison, Kamryn, Carter, Emmett, Emma, Liliana, and 4 great grandchildren: Hal, Thompson, Sheppard and Clark. He is also survived by his brother, Monty Young (Linda) of Shelbyville Tennessee.
There will be a small local celebration of life at a date to be determined later this summer. In lieu of flowers or donations, the family suggests donations in his name to Trinity Methodist Church of Bradenton.
